Tveten's Auto Clinic has a long history in Lakewood, WA - Tveten's was the first gas station ever in Lakewood. Since 1949, Tveten's has been proudly serving the Lakewood community.
We're very concerned about the environment, and have always done our part in making sure to keep our community clean - because our family lives here too! Tveten's Auto Clinic was the first automotive repair shop in Pierce County to earn a Five-Star rating from Envirostars.

Tveten's Auto Clinic is an active member of and adheres to the strict policies and Code of Ethics of the Automotive Service Association (ASA), as well as other service-related organizations. We are an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence facility. Tveten's was also awarded the 2003 AAA Top Shop Award.

Our History
In the early 1940s, "Sandy" Otto Tveten bought a Texaco garage located on Gravelly Lake Drive in Tacoma, Washington. At the same time he homesteaded on Steilacoom Lake. In 1949 he and his two sons, Dick and Gene, built another shop on 100th & Bridgeport. Dick managed the Bridgeport store and Gene (Scott's dad) helped Sandy run the Gravelly Lake store.
By 1962, Sandy was ready to retire, so they sold the Gravelly Lake store and the brothers combined forces at the Bridgeport location. Tveten's Lakewood incorporated in 1965 and the brothers' wives, Betty and Jane, became actively involved as bookkeeper and support staff. |

Scott started working in 1969 (at age 12) and became a full time employee by 1976. During those years, he built his technical skills by learning from his uncle, his dad, and their lead tech, Norris Skimmerhorn.
In 1990, Dick and Betty retired, and Gene gradually turned management of the business over to Scott and his wife Rachael. Tveten's Auto Clinic became a reality in 1997 when the brothers sold the Bridgeport property and Gene and Jane retired. We built a new, state-of-the-art facility on the portion of the land Scott and Rachael purchased.
Our general automotive business is third generation owned and operated. When designing our facility, every care was given to consider the local community and its environment. It is truly state-of-the-art and we take pride in treating our clients and employees like family.
We attribute our success to three basic values that have, and always will be, the backbone of our business: Personal Service; Pride in Craftsmanship; and Commitment to Quality. We will continue to combine these traditions with the finest facility, equipment and training available.
The rapid changes in technology create our company's greatest challenge. Keeping our employees and equipment current with automotive manufacturers' changes is costly and time consuming. At this time, we are fortunate to have a qualified staff that is eager and willing to accept the challenge. Over the next five years, we are committed to being more involved with the automotive associations and the community in order to be better prepared for the future.

Scott Tveten and his wife Rachael are both very active in the Automotive Service Association (ASA) on a local and state level. Scott serves as president and Rachael as secretary of their Pierce County Unit. They are both state board members, with Scott serving as environmental chair and insurance chair while Rachael chairs the Ascettes/Scholarship Committee.
Tveten's Auto Clinic acquired the prestigious Five-Star rating with Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s EnviroStars in 2002 and continues to maintain that highest rating currently.

We employ Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Technicians, including two Master Certified Technicians, and have participated in the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence program for three years.
Our Facility started with AAA in the 1950s with the roadside assistance program and is honored to be a 2003 Top Shop award winner.
