Engine – Oil & Filter Change Service Every 3,000 miles In order to qualify for the Lifetime Protection Plan on your engine system, you must return to Tveten's Auto Clinic every 3,000 miles to get an oil and filter change service done on your vehicle. Plan 1: Vehicles with mileage of 0-36,000 miles at time of first service. Coverage begins immediately after service is performed. Engine System Coverage: Up to $4,000.00 Plan 2: Vehicles with mileage of 36,001-75,000 miles at time of first service. Coverage begins 500 miles after service is performed. Engine System Coverage: Up to $2,000.00 Tveten's Specific Plan: Vehicles with mileage of 75,001+ miles at time of first service. Receive the cost of prior services off of future related repairs. Why is this service important? Motor oil is used to lubricate and protect the various components within your vehicle's engine. The engine is subject to extreme amounts of heat and pressure during operation. • Motor oil absorbs and helps carry the heat away from the engine so it does not overheat. • Lubricates moving parts to decrease friction and wear. • Keeps your engine from being exposed to oxygen - inhibiting oxidation which leads to rust and corrosion. • Microscopic metallic particles eventually accumulates in the oil (creating sludge). Although the oil filter helps filter out these particles, if the oil and filter are not changed regularly, these harmful particles will grind and cause erosion and premature wear on the engine. How often should I get it done? Every 3 months or 3,000 miles. It depends on your driving habits, driving conditions and what type of oil you use - regular, synthetic blend or full synthetic. Every 3 months or 3,000 miles is what is recommended for severe driving conditions. However, most people don't realize that city driving (short distance trips, stop and go traffic) as well as highway driving (high speeds) are considered severe driving conditions.
